Here's the original video I made to show inside my HYPE box. Some last minute technical difficulties prevented me from showing it during my installation (hence the random cat video). Here it is, a brief compilation of fun stuff.

Positive Art
So last Wednesday I set up a small art installation to help promote positivity. The idea behind the project was to HYPE the idea of positivity and encourage people to smile. It happens to be finals week at Towson University, so lots of people were willing to pause and take a moment to watch something funny. The display you see below contained a screen playing a funny compilation of cat videos, which I found on youtube. I also handed out cards containing the web address to this blog.
While all these people were looking into my box, I was discretely recording them with a tiny camcorder located in the back of the box. Below is a compilation of their reactions, proof that seeing someone smile provokes you to smile as well...check it out...

Tomorrow...
So tomorrow I'll be unveiling my HYPE project, which is the assignment that gave me the kick in the butt I needed to get this blog started. It's a small installation piece I've designed to provoke positive reactions. The goal is to make as many people smile as possible!
I'll be working through tonight and tomorrow morning to complete the finishing touches, and I'll be setting up on the second floor of Towson's Center for the Arts building tomorrow 12/12/12 from 10:00am to 12:30pm.
Here's a little preview, be sure to check back tomorrow night as I'll be posting many more photos & videos of the project! Here's to promoting positivity =]

Try Optimism on for Size!
So here's a site that some of you may be familiar with; TED.com
Committed to "Ideas Worth Spreading" TED unites people through Technology, Entertainment, and Design. The nonprofit organizes talks and conferences all over the world, where individuals from all fields and walks of life share their innovative ideas. These ideas can range from fun design concepts, to the mind blowing technologies of the future.
One thing most of the talks have in common, is that they inspire others to think outside the box and explore new possibilities. Every Ted Talk video I have ever watched has concluded on a positive or uplifting note.
Overwhelming at first, the site allows you to browse through the video categories, some of which include...
courageous
ingenious
inspiring
beautiful
funny
informative
etc...
If you're still not excited about TED, here's a short video about trying new things that might convince you...
Why not try being more optimistic for 30 days? That challenge just might stick!

Here's a preview from one of my upcoming art projects (which I have yet to give a solid name to). This youtube video is a prime example of the power of laughter, how contagious it is, and just how good it makes you feel inside. Go ahead, watch it and try not to laugh, I dare you...
Stay tuned for the completed project!
